Match Official Code of Conduct
1.Recognise the importance of fun and enjoyment when officiating players.
2.Look to self-improvement e.g. participation in training courses.
3.Before training sessions and matches check that studs and other clothing are in accordance with the iRB Laws of the game.
4.Be aware of Snowdown CWRFC’s ‘Health & Safety Policy’, and check that the home Club or School has provided a qualified first aider, ambulance access has not been obstructed and that appropriate equipment is available along with someone trained in its use before starting play.
5.Recognise that the safety of players is paramount.
6.Officiate to the rules laid down in the Rugby Continuum and keep themselves updated on rule changes.
7.Be consistent and objective.
8.Always penalise foul play.
9.Play advantage whenever possible in order to let the game flow.
10.Emphasise the spirit of the game.
11.Appreciate the needs of the players before the needs of the sport.
12.Be a positive role model. Set an example; provide positive verbal feedback in a constructive and encouraging manner before, during and after games.
13.Explain decisions – all players are still learning and will understand the game better.
14.Be familiar with the RFU’s ‘Good Spectator’s Code’ and ensure that verbal abuse from players, coaches or spectators is not tolerated and dealt with by club officials immediately.
15.Be aware of, and abide by, Snowdown CWRFC’s’ ‘Equality & Anti-Bulling Policy’ and ‘Child Protection Policy’.
16.Show empathy for the age and ability of players.
17.Understand the physical and behavioural development of players.

Disciplinary Procedure when Codes are Contravened
Any misconduct will be addressed by the immediate Coach, and should it be deemed necessary the Coach has the right to remove any individual from the session.
The Coach will report the incident to the Disciplinary Officer.
The Disciplinary Officer will arrange a meeting(s) to discuss within 7days of the incident.
A decision will be made as to the severity of the behaviour and action will be taken at one of the following stages as appropriate;
Stage 1: A verbal warning.
Stage 2: A written warning and advice regarding future conduct.
Stage 3: Final written warning and if appropriate a short term ban.
Stage 4: Notice given to leave the club and withdrawal of club membership.
Right of appeal - must be submitted in writing within 7 days of receipt of any decision in writing. If applicable an individual will be asked for a written apology to any injured party.
