A tough day in the mud.

Southam continue their winning run, with a workmanlike win at neighbours Harbury. The home Harbury team made Southam work at lot harder for their points than the earlier home 85 - 0 win, with strong competition at the scrum, lineout and loose. Southam started the stronger and pressured hard, but progress was difficult for both sides on the sodden pitch and first points were ten minutes in coming. The ball was driven on from a lineout on the halfway by prop Moddy Bekeris and from the scrum in Harbury 22, a crash ball from centre Will Woods was recycled and a delayed pass from scrum half Jay Etherington, put wing forward Liam Monro in for the try. Southams next try came from a strong forward drive into the Harbury 22 and the race for a neat box kick from Etherington, was won by wing Sam Bench for the try. Wing forward Urbanas got on the scoresheet again with his first try, as he fought his way through five defenders on the halfway to burst out and touch down under the posts, converted by fly half Harry Hewson. Another delayed pass from Etherington, put Hewson through on the Southam 10m, all the way to the Harbury 5m before being hauled down, a quick feed gave Monro his second with a stroll in try, converted by Hewson. Southam returned to the Harbury 22 and had to recycle the ball several times, before it was spread wide to Urbanas who weaved his way through for his second in the corner, well converted from the touch line by Hewson.
HT 0 - 31

Southam came off the gas a little in the second half and struggled to gain any dominance in the deteriorating conditions, Harbury got the first points with a forward drive and then the scrum half nipped in for the try. Southam then stayed in the Harbury half, but had little success until late on, when after the Southam backs had shovelled shit ball across the pitch, the ball fell backwards and was tidied up by Monro, who burst two tackles, drew the last defender and fed wing Ally Thorpe for the try. As the half finished, the Southam pack at last got some reward for a tough day in the mud with a penalty try as Harbury came offside at a 5m scrum, converted by Hewson.

A solid 5 point bonus win in the trying conditions, best described by the players as 'like trying to run in syrup'.
