We travelled to Burgess Hill for a very late start with a squad of 12. We played some very good hockey in the first half passing around the back as we’ve practiced at training. We managed to keep a clean sheet despite having several short corners to defend. Judith took a nasty hit on her foot and had to be subbed off for an ice pack.

At half time it was nil-nil but with the help of some Haribo and a team talk from Fiona we started the second half off with some positive passing and won our first short corner of the game. Izzy Noakes found the backboard and starting the scoring off.

This gave the whole team the boost and positivity we needed. We were then up against some dubious decisions and found ourselves again defending a short corner. Leanne was deemed too quick off the blocks and sent to the halfway line, closely followed by Judith leaving just Marianne, Maureen and Julie to keep the Ball out of the net.

We continued to fight back and Leanne (POM) scored an absolutely cracking goal into the top right hand corner of the net. Final score 2-0.
