No shortage of in-house 'dobbers' lining up with humorous banter to describe Liam this week! Sadly most of it unusable!
A reasonable summary of the bulk of it is an intimation of a Bromance between Liam and a certain lock who shall remain nameless. Its difficult to believe considering the attack on the same person in 17!
Liam's is apparently extremely gifted at losing things! He has [apparently...not confirmed] lost the Team's sound system and recently even the fines jar...What's the fine for losing the fines jar??
Often viewed as being a bit sulky and quiet on the bus, it's claimed he drinks like a slip of a lass (Northern term...Southerners see me for explanation if confused) and the players require an umbrella once he has got a pint in his hands.
Banter aside Liam has proved a real asset to the Saints. His skill and reading of the game allows him to perform well in a number of positions . He is one of a number of excellent kickers vying for the kicking role in the senior sides and plays a key role in providing the aggressive attack and defence essential to deliver our game plan.
He's exciting and a real pleasure to watch with ball in hand and he's a Saints man!
Here's Liam's 20:
1. Best thing about Rugby and why?
Winning is the catalyst to most things good about rugby in my opinion. The banter, the drinking and the messy bus trips are always better after a Win.
2. Worst thing about Rugby and why?
Injuries have always been a nightmare for me but other than that it’s the moaning that comes from the older players and pigs (forwards).
3. Earliest memory of playing Rugby?
Joined hornets when I was about 15 after way too many years playing kiss-ball.
4. How Many Clubs have you played for and which ones were they?
Newquay Hornets and St Austell.
5. Best Memory with St Austell RFC?
Cup final win was unbelievable but other than that the time Ian Venner had a couple shandy’s and was found having a fight with a bar stool or when Adam Kellow ran away from Butch Dingle at Bournemouth 7s .. Ohh we laauugghhheed !!!!
6. Who has most influenced your game and why?
There’s been a few really, 3 blokes back at Newquay who got me playing in the first place Nigel Eustace, Keith Richards and Sid Escott. Since coming to St Austell the Ashwin bros have been massive !!
7. Tell us your favourite [clean] joke?
Did you hear about that magic tractor been seen down Talskiddy ?! ....... Turned into a field !!
8. Who is the person you’d most like to be stuck in a lift with and why?
Hugh Noot ... He’d keep me warm !!
9. Who is your favourite professional player and why?
All time favourite is hands down Jonny Wilkinson (for the readers info, Chris Ashwin shared a shower with Wilko) and current players it’s a toss up between Damien McKenzie and Francis Saili.
10. What is your favourite Film?
Coach Carter
11. What is your favourite Book?
Idiots guide to Rugby is a good read; borrowing it off Shane Johns at the moment.
12. What kind of music do you like pre-game?
I’m usually DJ in the changers! I love a bit of Chase & Status myself but our go to is Hometown Glory - High Contrast.
13. Where do you see yourself in 5 years time in terms of rugby?
5 years is a long time. Hopefully I’ll still be running about for St Austell with Heccy B123 as skipper !!
14. What is your favourite pre-match food?
Poached eggs n bacon on bagels with a bowl of porridge.
15. Why St Austell Rugby Club?
Was asked by James Earp and Matt Shepherd at a time when I was needing a new challenge. I headed to St Austell and I’ve never looked back !! Incredible club with best facilities and supporters in the county.
16. Which of your team mates is the most mischievous and why?
There's so many to choose from! I’d have to go with Nooty though!! They are all hellers though the lot of them; Miles, Kells, Chops, Knighter.
Just like Pete Rowe said “they are all just childish, but you’ve got to rise above it.”
17. Who are the best and worst dressed men in the squad?
The worst is an absolute no brainer !!!! Adam Kellow doesn’t turn up for training often but when he does he looks like he’s meant to be at a swimming lesson or a trip to Benidorm. Best dressed easily goes to Rob Jeffs; that mans got style !!
18. Which team mate is most likely to avoid paying for a round of drinks ?
Chinny !! The boy is on another level of tight!!
19. What is your nick name?
Fred is the main one really .. Chrissy Ashwin calls me Frenner and Hugh Noott used to call me Alfie for some reason !!
20. Use one word to describe you?
Positive
Next Week - Andy Ashwin
