Project Halo - Progress Update

Project Halo - Progress Update

Paul Hayes

Preferred option selected, preparatory work underway & good progress towards the fundraising target BUT... one last push needed to get over the line!

Project Halo was launched in June 2026 to raise the money required to replace the floodlights on the training pitch (Pitch 2) that were damaged when Storm Goretti ravaged Cornwall in January 2026.

Since then, we have been evaluating potential solutions and have now selected a preferred supplier who has designed a lighting design based on IP65 rated LED lighting.

Our volunteers have stripped back and retreated the six floodlight towers, an arduous task at the best of times that was made even harder in the current heatwave. On the Club Maintenance Day scheduled for 25th of July, a team will strip out the existing electrical wiring in the towers in readiness for installation of the new LED system.

Everything is ready and once the funding is in place, we will place the orders. With a lead time of five weeks, this needs to be by the beginning of August to make the LED lights can be commissioned before the evenings draw in at the end of September.

Our fundraising to date has hit £10,000 – an incredible effort from One and All so thank you to everyone who has donated so far.

It means we are two-thirds of the way towards our target of £15,000, so we are getting ever closer, but we are still not yet able to proceed.

As it stands now, we will NOT have any floodlights on our training pitch for the start of the season. So, we need to redouble efforts to make that last push to get us over the line.

If you have not donated yet, please give it some thought and if you can afford it – please help YOUR CLUB by making a donation

Individual Donations

A GoFundMe page has been set-up to enable supporters, members, and former players to make a personal donation.

£10 is less than the price of two pints or the equivalent of two cups of Costa coffee. Or could you manage something a little larger like £25 or £50 or even more?

Whatever you can afford to donate, it will all go towards our new floodlights

Please share the GoFundMe page far and wide so we can maximise the exposure of our fundraiser.

Team Challenge

Could you get your age group together to collective raise money for Project Halo?

Imagine if every Youth age group, Colts, Sinners, Valkyries and Saints worked together to raise some the money then we would very quickly hit our target and be able to install a full complement of light units ready to be installed.

Recognition will be given to each team that hits the target of at least one unit with a prize for the team who raises the most.

Business Sponsorship

There are opportunities for local businesses to support community sport by sponsoring one or more light units (£750 inc. VAT each) or a complete tower (£4,000 inc. VAT). Sponsorship will include a pitchside advertising board on the main pitch and on the floodlight tower, as well as promotions in the Clubhouse, and on social media.

Please contact Shane Sullivan if you would like to learn more about the project or provide offers of help and support, on 07880 785437or via email sponsorship@staustellrfc.co.uk.

EVERY contribution will make a HUGE difference and will take us one step closer to switching on the lights in October.

Together we can light up Tregorrick again!!
