GIRLS RUGBY - FUN, FITNESS AND FRIENDSHIPS
Rugby is rapidly becoming one of the fastest-growing women's sports in the UK, attracting increasing interest across all levels. At St Austell Rugby Club, we proudly support three dedicated girls' teams, with participants ranging from Year 6 to Year 11.
Our mission at St Austell Rugby Club is to ensure that all female players receive equal opportunities as their male counterparts as they advance through age-grade rugby and beyond. We aim for girls to discover their passion for rugby with us, beginning their playing journey and continuing to stay with us throughout their lives.
Our hope over the next couple of seasons is to increase our player numbers at all age groups and add an U18s team to the fold.
There are four age groups
Training sessions will be held every Wednesday evening during term time from 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM, catering to all age groups. Additionally, if there are no fixtures, we will train on Sunday mornings. All practices occur at our home ground, Tregorrick Park, St Austell, PL26 7AG, unless stated otherwise. Fixtures are scheduled throughout the county, primarily on Sunday afternoons.
There are times during the winter when the grass pitches are too wet to train, training may be cancelled at short notice or moved to an all weather facility such as the 4G pitch at a school.
Players should be ready to embrace the elements – getting muddy, hot, cold, and wet!
Key items of equipment include:
As rugby is a contact sport, it’s important that all clothing does NOT have zips, buttons, hoods, or fasteners.
Before purchasing any gear, please ensure your daughter truly wants to join our team; we offer a selection of second-hand boots and tops that can be borrowed for the first few weeks.
Typically, players will remove one top layer as they warm up and put it back on before heading home.
We stay in touch with all parents and players via a mobile app named HEJA. Your team manager will supply you with a unique code to access the St Austell Girls teams. This app allows you to read and respond to the latest messages, view the full schedule of fixtures, and confirm your availability.
Additionally, we have a Facebook page and Instagram page which you might want to follow. https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100092997549957
