St Austell RFC v Launceston RFC
Regional 1 South West
Saturday 10 October 2026
⏰ Kick-off 2.30pm
Tregorrick Park
After two very different away days to start the season, the Saints are back on home soil this Saturday as Launceston RFC make the trip to Tregorrick Park for another important afternoon of Regional 1 South West rugby.
The Saints began the campaign with a hard-fought 19–15 victory over Chew Valley at home before last weekend’s trip to Royal Wootton Bassett ended in a high-scoring 54–29 defeat.
Launceston have also collected four league points from their opening two matches. After a narrow 33–28 defeat at Trowbridge, they bounced back last weekend with an impressive 38–31 victory over Brixham.
With both sides sitting on four league points, Saturday promises to be another competitive contest — and an opportunity for the Saints to get back to winning ways in front of their home supporters.
A Cornish rivalry — with something extra
There is plenty of history between these two clubs, and the Saints go into Saturday’s game with a recent record they will be keen to maintain.
St Austell won both meetings last season, taking a thrilling 22–20 victory at Tregorrick Park before travelling to Polson Bridge in March and coming away with a hard-earned 17–12 win.
But this season sees the start of something new between the two clubs — the Innovation Cup.
The competition brings together the results of the Saints, Sinners and Colts across fixtures played at both Tregorrick Park and Polson Bridge, with the overall winner decided by the accumulation of scores from all the games.
And there’s no quick answer as to who will lift the cup. The final result won’t be known until April, when all three sides have completed their fixtures.
So while Saturday’s game is an important league fixture in its own right, it is also the first chapter in what promises to be a great new competition between the two clubs — one that involves players across the generations and both home grounds.
Make Tregorrick Park count
The players will need to put in the work on the pitch, but they also need the support from the sidelines. So bring the family, bring your friends, grab a drink and get behind the Saints.
Let’s make Tregorrick Park a difficult place for Launceston to visit and start the Innovation Cup with plenty of noise from the home supporters.
There’s a long way to go before we find out who takes the trophy in April, but Saturday is where it all begins.
Bars open from 1200, and I say 'bars' because we have a treat for you this weekend! Not only are a great range of ales, spirits and wines from our main bar, and a selection of cans from Frosties, but also we have the 'Pick Up Bar' situated between the gym and stand next to the pitch. Please give all of them a go!
We have delicious food available from the clubs caterers 'Honey and Thyme' throughout the day from multiple , so no need to pre-load or go hungry as Frosties and Smokies will be open.
