Don’t head home when the Saints finish, because there’s plenty more rugby to come at Tregorrick Park this Saturday.
Following the Saints’ clash with Launceston, the Sinners take centre stage at 4.45pm as they welcome the Launceston Castles for the second instalment of a cracking Cornish double-header.
And if recent results are anything to go by, there should be plenty to keep everyone entertained.
The Sinners head into Saturday looking to turn a draw into a win after an exciting 24–24 encounter with Falmouth last weekend. The Castles, meanwhile, arrive at Tregorrick full of confidence after an emphatic 68–12 victory away at Newquay Hornets.
That followed contrasting opening weekends for the two sides. The Sinners suffered a 64–5 defeat at Bude, while Launceston were edged out 33–31 at home by Liskeard-Looe.
So both teams have already experienced the ups and downs of life in Counties 2 Tribute Ale Cornwall, and Saturday provides another opportunity to build some early-season momentum.
MORE THAN JUST ANOTHER LEAGUE GAME
There is always something a little extra when St Austell and Launceston meet.
Last season the Sinners and Castles met under the Tregorrick lights as part of another St Austell-Launceston double-header, with local pride and league points very much on the agenda.
This time, of course, there is another ingredient in the mix.
The Innovation Cup.
With the results of the Saints, Sinners and Colts contributing to the new competition between St Austell and Launceston, every point scored across the various encounters matters.
The Saints will get the rivalry underway earlier in the afternoon. Then, at 4.45pm, it is over to the Sinners.
Different teams. Same shirts. Same rivalry.
STAY FOR THE SINNERS
If you’re coming to Tregorrick to watch the Saints, make an afternoon of it and stay to support the Sinners.
Second-team rugby is a huge part of what our club is about, and there should be a fantastic atmosphere as the Sinners and Castles bring the curtain down on a big day of rugby at Tregorrick.
The Castles will arrive with their tails up after an eight-try outing last weekend, but the Sinners showed plenty of fight in their draw with Falmouth and will relish the opportunity to take on our old rivals on home turf.
Two St Austell teams.
Two Launceston teams.
One afternoon at Tregorrick Park.
And plenty of Cornish pride at stake.
