The 24th Thatcham Tornadoes Small-Sided Tournament was held at Kennet School, Thatcham over the weekend of SATURDAY 19TH MAY 2018 and SUNDAY 20TH MAY 2018.

Over the weekend, 217 teams from all over the South East participated, which was a tremendous number of teams considering the Royal Wedding and Thatcham's historic F.A. Vase victory at Wembley over the same week-end. Whilst many teams participating were local, others travelled from as far afield as Taplow and Southampton. There were non-competitive groups for the U7 and U8 age groups culminating in participation and Fair Play Awards whilst the U9 age group and older players took part in competitive leagues.

Throughout the weekend, Thatcham Tornadoes ran a charity speed shot competition to raise money for the Fanconi Hope Charity in Stephen Water's memory. £409.12 was raised thanks to the generosity of all the teams, parents and supporters attending the tournament. Five teams from Thatcham Tornadoes reached the finals this year. Thatcham Tornadoes Black U14 lost to Wootton Bassett Town White in the Consolation Cup. In the U13 Consolation Cup Thatcham Tornadoes Amber overcame Thatcham Tornadoes Black in an all Tornadoes final. Similarly in the U10 Consolation Cup Final, a Tornadoes Winner was guaranteed as Thatcham Tornadoes Amber and Black both reached the final with Black eventually taking home the silverware.
This tournament would not be possible to stage without the support of a small army of volunteers. They transform the Kennet School Playing Fields into a Tournament Arena and devote hundreds of hours in organising the event and ensuring it runs like clock-work.

Thatcham Tornadoes would also like to thank all the referees for giving their time throughout the tournament, Kennet School and the PTA, DE Photos, Newbury Bouncy Castles and all the parents/volunteers who have given their time to make this tournament such a success.
