Result: Loss

Summary: Winning the toss and putting the opposition in on what looked like an early season pitch that could be unpredictable. With one of the worst outfields to be played on at this level and a ski slope leading onto the square making it difficult for the bowlers to get into a flow with the run up. 6 Bowlers were used and majority bowled well. The first game in this division taught us that fielding errors would be costly, having a few half chances and a couple of dropped catches allowed the opposition to post 181 off of the 40 overs. Other than these fielding improvements that need to be made there we good signs from the bowling of Jacob Taylor, Martin Prudence and David Damen; all three taking wickets. Good death bowling from Lewis Bone to add to this. Having allowed 181 to be scored where we should have restricted Bexley Park to 150 or less gave us a difficult chase to make. However with an opening partnership starting well and putting us in a positive position there were many starts and positives to be taken in the batting department where we would normally roll over and not compete in the past we have managed to get 3 runs behind the opposition in a good run chase and not managing to get the runs and losing wickets quickly at the end in this chase. With the evergreen Steve Buckland starting the season with 56 and being the highlight of the game, backed up with the batting of Martin Prudence and Lewis Bone; 31 and 25 respectfully. Lewis Bone and Jacob Taylor both being caught on the boundary trying to push the rate along in the chase falling in quick succession and unfortunately falling short. However a better start to the season than the previous year and more positives than negatives to take away from the game.
