Summary: After a few weeks of negative performances, the toss was won and we looked to play to our strengths and put the opposition in to bat. Opening with a seam up partnership of Jacob Taylor and Mushi Chowdhury, both creating chances and bowling well to put pressure on early up. James Waterson took a great catch at gully off of Jacob Taylors bowling to get the first wicket of the day followed shortly by a catch in the slip by Lewis Bone again off Jacobs bowling and putting The Mote in a good position. The middle overs were filled by spin and seam with Rob Adams, Lewis Bone and David Damen taking the remaining wickets. At one point Sherwood were about 80-3 and looking like they could go on to get a respectable and good score of 180 – 200 on the bottom pitch of The Mote Cricket Club. In the end The Mote bowled tightly and largely took our chances with the exception of one or two drop catches. Reducing the opposition to 133 all out off of 35.4 with 3-24 for David Damen and 4-27 for Lewis Bone. When it came to batting an opportunity was given to Alex Bone to open the batting after hitting a 92 not out the weekend before. He and Steve Buckland didn’t disappoint with an opening stand of 88 including a 50 for Steve Buckland and 36 for Alex Bone. Martin Prudence and Adam Crowhurst came and went with 9 and 8 respectively. Lewis Bone and Mushi Chowdhury came to the crease and finished the game off in quick time with 6 not out for Mushi Chowdhury and 18 not out in 10 balls for Lewis Bone to hit the winning runs to complete the game and a well-deserved victory against table topping Sherwood, showing how anyone in this league can beat anyone and how competitive It is.
