Joe was a strong and active supporter of the Club, having been part of the squad that secured the Glasgow District Division 2 title in season 1993/94, and went on to become Club Captain the following season, 1994/95. After his playing career ended Joe continued to be active within the Club and could often be found on the touchline adding his support for today's generation of Villagers.

Club Secretary Andy West commented "Joe was a huge part of the Club at Uddingston, never more so than during our Centenary Season in 2006 when he was instrumental in collating and producing the Club's Centenary publication '100 Years of Uddingston Rugby Football Club'."

Joe will be greatly missed by all at the Club who played alongside him and had the pleasure and privilege of knowing him over the years. Our thoughts are with his son Alex at this sad time.
