Irvine 19 - 48 Uddingston

Uddingston Rugby Club recorded their 4th consecutive league victory of the season with a commanding 48-17 win over Irvine at Marress on Saturday. The win further cements their place in the top half of the West Division 2 table, and is their best run of results since a 6 game streak that carried from Oct 2017 through to January 2018, and included the memorable 52-52 draw with Millbrae.

First half tries from Black, Watson and Alston, with a single conversion from R Anderson gave the Villagers a comfortable 17-5 cushion at the break. The hosts had managed an unconverted try in response, but this always looked the Villagers' game to dominate.

The second period started with purpose, and it wasn't long before Uddingston stretched their lead further. The Villagers notched up a total of 5 tries in the second half, with the honours going to B Anderson, and a brace each from L Quinn and R Anderson. R Anderson added a further 3 conversions to round of his tally on the day at 18 points.

To their credit, the home side kept fighting, and crossed the whitewash on 2 occasions, with both converted to round off their scoring.

The final score line reflected the pattern of the game and ensured all 5 league points made their way back to Castle Policies.

Next Saturday, 22 October, sees the final league fixture before the 2 week break for the Autumn Internationals, and the Villagers will have the opportunity to extend their unbeaten run further when Paisley come calling, still looking for their first win of the season. Kick off at Castle Policies 3pm. With the Former Players lunch getting underway at noon, why not make a day of it ?
