Celebrating 26 years, the New Windsor Marauder’s Program began in 1995. The program’s founders were retired and current adult rugby players who felt a youth program would benefit the youth of Carroll County. The Marauders Rugby Club is sponsored by the West Carroll Recreation Council and the Carroll County Department of Recreation and Parks. The Club is a member of the Mid-Atlantic Rugby Union, under the direction of and governed by a division of USA Rugby.
Since it's establishment in 2003, the girls’ program has earned 13 Maryland State Championship titles and has competed in the National Invitational Tournament a total of 9 times in places like Milwaukee, Wisconsin; Portland, Maine; Salt Lake City, Utah; Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania; and Palo Alto, California. Invitations to this tournament are limited to the best sixteen teams in the U.S. and our club has finished as high as 6th in the nation.
Countless players have gone on play rugby at the collegiate, women’s club, and even international levels. Additionally, numerous players have received scholarships. Women’s rugby is now an Olympic sport and many university rugby programs are entering the NCAA division system, like Mount St. Mary’s University, or adding rugby to their athletic offerings, which creates more potential for scholarships.
