1. Code of Conduct for Members and Guests - 1

Code of Conduct
for all members of the club - players (adults and juniors), parents, supporters, officials, coaches and other volunteers – and guests and visitors to the club (including visiting teams and spectators)

Yapham Cricket Club is committed to providing a positive, safe, and respectful cricket environment for everyone—players (adults and juniors), parents, supporters, guests, officials, and coaches. Every member of our community is expected to uphold the highest standards of behaviour as outlined in this Code of Conduct, and all visitors to the club are asked to respect and abide by this.

For all Players
• Always play within the Laws and Spirit of Cricket, showing respect for opponents, teammates, officials, and coaches at all times
o accept umpires’ and officials’ decisions without dissent or negative reactions. Do not engage in intimidating gestures or language
o abide by club rules for behaviour on and off the field: never use foul, insulting, or discriminatory language, and do not cheat, bully, or disrespect others
o support and encourage teammates, recognising effort as well as achievement
• Wear the correct kit, including required protective equipment, and keep to agreed timings for training and matches
• Look after club equipment and facilities and report any concerns or incidents to a coach, captain or club official
• Keep to agreed timings for training and fixtures; let the coach or captain know in advance if unavailable or late

For Parents and Carers
• Always support children positively—applaud effort, show interest, and help them enjoy the game and develop, regardless of match results
• Do not pressure children to compete or succeed. Never criticise or belittle any child for mistakes or defeat
• Respect officials, coaches, and opposition; accept decisions and avoid public criticism
• Refrain from instructing or coaching players from the sidelines (including your own child); do not criticise or give instructions to players or umpires, or enter the field of play, unless asked by a coach or official or in a medical emergency
• Do not involve yourself in coaching sessions or discussions with players unless specifically invited by club coaches or officials
• Ensure your child arrives with suitable kit, on time, and is collected promptly. Share any relevant health information with the club
• Encourage your child to follow this code of conduct, the club’s rules, and to speak to club coaches, Safeguarding Officers or other officials if any concerns arise
• Behave appropriately on the sidelines—no foul language or aggressive behaviour
