A blustery day at Yapham saw the thirds put in a dogged shift against Acomb. Keen to right the wrongs of an early-season thumping, Yapham’s innings wobbled early on, but Pat Wahl dug in with a grafting 42, ably supported by Dan, Dex and Harry. With the Acomb bowlers firing down as many wides as wickets, and a late fireworks cameo from Andy Noble (a six and a four in two balls), Yapham scrambled to a respectable 156.
In reply, Acomb unleashed debutant Paudel, who promptly carted it to all parts for a brutal 82. Despite a sharp catch or two from Deri and Harry and a tidy spell from skipper Tom Jennings, the visitors chased it down in double-quick time. A loss, yes — but signs of promise with the bat and in the field. On to Pickering next week.
