Impressive team performance leaves the coaches smiling from ear to ear

By

Wet, windy and heavy under foot but it wasn't enough to stop the chiefs playing some fantastic rugby.

With the recent changes within the Chiefs coaching set up, your friendly match reporter has been otherwise detained and focused on rugby matters as opposed to his usual literacy masterpieces. However with things starting to settle down and said reporter getting on top of his other new role it was felt time for another instalment of Sunday rugby with the Chiefs.
Making the visit down the A420 for a visit to Kingswood, a first for the chiefs I believe, the team were met with a heavy, muddy pitch and wet conditions. Captain for the day Warwick B got the team together and along with Josh O'c gave an excellent rallying speech before kick off to make sure the entire squad were ready for the challenge ahead of them.
Playing up the slope and into the wind for the first half the Chiefs didn't let that slow them down or disrupt their game plan. Excellent handling and quick movement of the ball, with the new 9/10 partnership of Callum J and Theo S, proving pivotal to the speed of ball for the backs to attack. Jamie W, James L and Joe L all found themselves with plenty of ball to run at their opposing player and causing panic in the Kingswood defence. With the back line firing and the forwards, led by Warwick, Myles and Josh, creating gaps in the defence the tries were flowing. Some of the scores came from excellent individual efforts but try of the game was scored by Toby K; A ruck on the left touchline on the Kingswood 22, was won quickly by the Chiefs forwards, Callum J fed the ball to Theo S who attacked the line before shipping it to Jamie W, he in turn drew his man and gave the ball to full back Fraser T, hitting a fantastic line from deep. Fraser spotted Toby in space giving him a well timed pass, Toby still had some work to do but a fine step back inside left the drift defence helpless and Toby accelerated through the gap to dot down an excellent team try.
There were so many fantastic performances from the entire 16 man squad that I could wax lyrical about the players for a long time but as it's Sunday and my roast is due I am going to stop going on and just leave it with the fact that both coach Jason and Myself are incredibly proud of the chiefs today.
