Moments Of The Campaign - Dynamo 2-1 Morpeth Town

Loughborough Dynamo produced a scintillating first half performance which proved too much for Morpeth Town back in November.

After somewhat of a poor start to the season, Dynamo came into this game against the champions-elect in some good form and had scored the joint most goals in the division. That showed in the opening stages as Lee Attenborough’s side played with positivity and determination, cutting the Morpeth defence apart.

Youngster Josh Riley had started to cement his position on the Dynamo left side – and he was influential in creating the first good chance of the afternoon. His cross-cum-shot was parried by the Highwayman ‘keeper Daniel Lowson straight to Luke Thorogood but his effort was blocked on the line and cleared to safety.

The high-flying visitors started slowly, and they found themselves behind in the 24th minute. Dynamo Supporters’ Player of the Season Ryan Robbins dribbled powerfully through the Morpeth defence and saw his shot rebound off Lowson towards Riley, who swept home from close range.

Dynamo racked up some impressive scalps at the ADT Stadium during the 2018/19 season, including the league leaders, and they were being pinned back by a free-flowing Loughborough side. Luke Thorogood put Attenborough’s team two-up just before the half-time break; he took a few touches and rifled in from the edge of the box [on 41 minutes].

Morpeth possessed possibly the most dangerous front-line in the division that led them to the title and they were starting to show that quality at the start of the second half in Loughborough. David Carson could’ve pulled a goal back from the penalty spot but he blazed the well wide of target.

Former Sunderland academy product Sean Taylor halved the deficit in the 63rd minute as he clipped the ball over Charlie Taylor. That made it a nervy final half-an-hour for Dynamo, but they held on for a remarkable victory over the runaway champions of the EVO-STIK Northern Premier League East Division.
