We travel to Anglesey on Friday evening for this important fixture against basement side Holyhead with five games left to ensure our place in the new Championship league next season. Looking at the table you may think that Holyhead are relegated but it is clear that they have not given up yet. They beat Rhyl last week and are scrapping for every point in the hope that they may, somehow, make the great escape. They are also in the league cup final against Airbus in April so they mean to finish well. Denbigh beat Holyhead 3 - 1 at Central Park earlier in the season in a game that became bad tempered with two of the visiting team being sent off in the final minutes. Cool heads will be required on Friday.
We make the journey without forward Mark Roberts and midfielder Sam Downey who are both serving suspensions although it is hoped that defender Stu Vernon may have recovered from injury and be available.
Joint manager Matty Jones was asked for his thoughts and said " With five games left picking up points is the priority. We go into this game on the back of a very spirited performance against league leaders Airbus in what were awful conditions. The players performed very well and in the end we could have nicked something. With so many postponements across the league the run in could become confusing so we have told our players that we take one game at a time and focus on ourselves and ensure we get the required points. "
Can we win on Friday ? It is going to be a nail biter !
C,mon Denbigh!
