So the new season is nearly upon us and I have been very impressed with the way we have been moving forward in the run up to the season! The winter nets were very successful with plenty of people turning up. It seems the new signings have settled in very well especially Bish who is already a regular in the Miners Arms!!!! The only thing I haven’t been happy with is the weather!!! Although even with that we have had plenty of lads down mopping up the field.

Despite the horrid weather we managed to get a friendly in against Wrenthorpe and this only increased my optimism for the season as with a weakened side and a bit of tinkering with the batting order we put in a great effort and just fell short. The result didn’t worry me though as there were excellent performances throughout. Glover, Kieron impressed with the ball and Webby did a great job behind the sticks! Need to work on those butterfingers though!!! With the bat they were excellent performances from J Carter getting a 50 on the board ably supported by Webby, Luke, Bish and E Carter although the latter survived a somewhat dubious decision.

All in all I am really looking forward to the start of the season and believe if we keep this early team spirit and performance together we will go well. Bring on Hopton!
