The Chiefs suffered a blow before kick off when Ryan Jones had to pull out but they were able to name a line up boasting 70 Welsh Caps when Tom Shaklin was drafted in as replacement.
For the Warriors Simon Day became the 2nd most capped wing.
The Warriors had the honour of kicking off and regained possession in the Chiefs half. An early attack saw them swing wide and although the Cardiff cover got across Ben Win managed to gather the deft chip ahead and Gwilym Lewis was on hand to get the ball over the line. Rhydian Williams added a touch line conversion.
The match was close throughout but the Warriors had good possession via Andrew Davies and quick hands saw the Red's wings get their opportunities in the fast and open game. Shaklin turned over some balls but the Warriors scored again when Adam Davies broke from full back to run clear under the posts, Simon Jenkins adding the extra points.
Fresh legs at half time saw the Warriors keep up the momentum whilst Yanis Whiteley was at the heart of their defensive efforts with some sharp tackling. Weathering the storm they made the game safe with time almost up, Simon Jenkins running strongly from a scrum and Liam Tobais picking up from the ruck to dive over. Whiteley added the conversion.
The Chiefs showed their character from the kick off and had their just reward when late pressure forced a penalty try.
