“KXS played against a well established Campion side that have been in and around this league for many years now. We knew that this game would be a different test with the expansive rugby that they like to play.
It was a great day for running rugby but the day was littered with many infringements by both sides and trying to play multi phases was difficult with the official on the day awarding a total of 33 penalties between the both teams.
The game was close in the first half with both sides having an even percentage of the ball and was 3 - 3 with 15 minutes to go. Campion scored the first try of the game and converted making 3 - 10 this seemed to spark KXS into life and we responded with a try of our own. This was through Fraser smashing over from distance, the conversion was missed making the score 8 - 10. This was looking like the half time score until Campion scored with a late un-converted try at the death of the first half to make the score 8 - 15.
The second half saw the KXS came out firing and scored two tries with only one unconverted making the score 20 - 15 to KXS. Despite another couple of attempts at a goal through penalties there was no success. Campion scored two late converted tries to take the game to 20-29 and leave the hosts with nothing for the day.
Again more lessons learnt and now to rectify before playing Barking away next week - onwards and upwards.”
