Version 2 – Whilst returning from a short tour of the West Country (before the Severn Bridges were built) a badger was knocked down and severely injured by the team bus. The badger was wrapped in a towel and put on the bus, with the intention of finding a vet. Unfortunately, as it was the early hours of a Sunday morning a vet couldn’t be found and the badger sadly passed over. The bus stopped next to a grass verge and the badger removed from the bus. The driver produced a shovel from somewhere and a small hole was dug. The players all stepped off the bus and a funeral service was held hymns and all.
