New Website: Set-up Guidance for Members
Our website is changing! We are joining ‘Pitchero’, a network of rugby clubs across the whole of the UK! Join the site to follow Bognor RFC and get news on events, fixtures, results and league tables. Joining the site is free but this is also how all club subscriptions will be paid from September 2013, including non-players. You can also follow the Team Page for your own team or for your children in the minis and juniors. This document provides a basic introduction to the site’s main features, but you can find out more by logging on…
Joining the Bognor RFC Website
Go to www.bognor-rfc.com and bookmark the page, then click ‘join website’ for a free Bognor RFC account. You will need an email account and when you are asked to provide your user name please use your full, real name not a comedy alias! When you join, please make sure you tick the box that says ‘Bognor RFC can see my email address’. If you don’t do this, you will miss out on club mailings and communications. Important: you will also need to confirm your email address: please do this by opening your email account and clicking on the email confirmation message from Pitchero.
Roles
When you join up, you have the option to select your role in the club. You can have more than one role, but they do different things. The default setting is ‘Supporter’. If you join as a supporter, you will have limited access to the site. The other roles available are: Club Member, Parent, Player, Coach, Staff. If you request to be listed as any of these, you will get more extensive access to the Club’s website and as such your application will need to be verified by a webmaster. This will normally happen within 48 hours. None of these cost anything to sign up for – they just determine what sorts of emails you will receive from the club. (If you are intending to play rugby in any way shape or form, you must join as a ‘Player’.)
Would you like to help run the Bognor RFC site?
You will be offered the chance to apply for ‘Team Admin’ or ‘Webmaster’ roles. The webmaster roles are allocated by the Club’s management committee but every playing team, from Under 7s to 1st XV, now has its own page. Each team will need to nominate a small number of ‘Team Admins’ to run their page. You do not need to be a computer expert but some basic IT knowledge would be an advantage! If you would like to help run the page for your team, please see your coach or captain and apply for ‘Team Admin’ via the site. You can do this at any time.
Customise your profile
Once you have signed up, you will be able to customise your profile. This allows you to:
• Add your profile photo and details.
• Login with Facebook (but you don’t have to do this!).
• Network with other players and coaches across Sussex and the UK.
• Comment on club forums.
• Add your own photos and news.
You can manage your account settings at any time by clicking on your name at the top right of the webpage. Important starting points are:
• Website settings – make sure your primary sport is listed as rugby union and your club is Bognor.
• SMS settings – as the site develops, we will use the SMS feature to notify players of selection details, match cancellations, etc. It is especially important for players to sign up to this facility.
Paying your Club Subscriptions for 2013-14
From September 2013, all players and social members will be required to pay their Club Subscriptions using the payment facility on our website. Further details about fees can be found on the website under the ‘Club Info’ tab.
To pay your subs: Click on your name (top right of the home page) then ‘My Network’. Select the correct payment option for you and follow the onscreen directions. Please do this from September 2013 or you will not be eligible to play for the club. If you already have a standing order, don’t forget to cancel it once you have set up your new direct debit online. (We cannot do this for you.)
