Anthony Fenner

Anthony joined Buckingham RUFC in 2005 and very quickly made his mark with the team.

Anthony turned professional in the 2008/9 season with Bedford Blues in the UK. He moved to New Zealand to further his rugby career in January 2010, and signed for Auckland. After playing with them for 5 months they offered him the opportunity to play in the Currie Cup Div 1 tournament with Eastern Province Kings who are based in Port Elizabeth, South Africa. This was an extremely successful move as the team were crowned Currie Cup Div 1 Champions 2010.

Back in New Zealand with 3 professional contracts on offer from Eastern Province SA, North Harbour NZ, and Otago NZ, Anthony decided to sign for Otago for 2 years with a chance to play for the Highlanders in the Super 15s at the end of the first season.

Anthony found the South Africa experience truly amazing - playing in the beautiful new Nelson Mandala Bay Stadium for every home game, with 48,000 people watching.

"I would like to personally thank John Lambert and the Buckingham coaches who played a massive key stage in my rugby career. Now I'm a professional I never forget where it all started and the people that helped me "

You too could be like Anthony Fenner - come and join Buckingham RUFC, we have teams in Minis, Juniors, Colts and Seniors.

Buckingham RUFC - committed to supporting and developing young people in the community

December 2010

Two former Buckingham youth players; prop, George Hunter, and centre Tom Stephenson played against each other a few weeks ago in the Cambridge University U21's vs Northampton Saints Academy game.

Northampton ran out 72-0 winners. However, well done to both George and Tom. It is great to see former Buckingham Youth players going on to bigger and better rugby achievements and we hope that their time at Buckingham help them just a little bit..

Tom has since gone to play for England U18 in Australia, the Saints vs Russia and currently plays for England U20. Here is his RFU profile:-

Sam becomes capped senior Navy player in last night 17-10 victory over French Navy

A massive well done and congratulations to Sam Laird who came on off the bench to become an offical capped Royal Navy Senior Player in the victorious match against the French Marine Nationale.

As many know Sam has played a massive part in the current playing position and form of the 1st XV. He was an integral member of Andy "The Main Man" Turvey's 2008/2009 promotion winning 1st XV and has been with Buckingham for many years through the youth section and onwards, and is still playing for the Mighty Buck when he can.

Hopefully, Sam can now go on to secure his position in the senior squad for a place in the Army vs Navy game at Twickenham on 7th May - I for one would put him in the team, if only for his boat-race abilities after the game!!

But seriously, a massive well done from everyone at the club and good luck to you and Rach with your imminent arrival..
