A challenge for Burnley and quite a first-game outing for Jack and Cassius (well done!) as the U15s travelled to a gloriously sunny and calm West Park for a friendly match.

The scoreline doesn’t reflect the effort and impact Burnley brought against a very capable opposition who may not have been union-practised this season, but were certainly league-fit!

There were some strong tackles throughout from Josh, supported by Matty, who seemed to be on a hunt-and-tackle mission. Ted had an all-round excellent game, driving forward and working hard at the ruck, with George also putting in some key take-downs.

West Park, however, had safe, solid hands and maintained control of the ball throughout—something Burnley lacked at key moments, and West Park capitalised on it.

There are clear areas for the team to focus on, and they are undoubtedly still feeling the gaps left by illness and injury in the backs. However, it’s hard not to feel that once those players return, the U15s will be a force to be reckoned with!
