Burnley 10 Aldwinians 43

Burnley hosted Aldwinians in a rearranged game on Easter Saturday the third meeting between the sides and this was the worst of the lot.Easter Is when Christians celebrate the resurrection but for Burnley their are to be no miracles this season as they went down in a game low on quality and skill but high in knock ons and poor kicking.Burnley edged the opening minutes as they made fewer errors and a good Jack Donovan run won a pen which Joe Parkinson scored.Aldwinians took full advantage of a high tackle by Adam Healy with the ref playing advantage and the visitors duly scoring a converted try .The visitors were on top opting to take scrums when they won penalties.They sucked in the cover and added another try.Again converted.Burnley were dropping off tackles as if Jonah Lomb was on the pitch as the visitors scored two more tries securing a bonus point before the half.HT 3-28 .Burnley made some changes at tihe half the most significant was Chris Pickles introduction at prop which turned an Aldwinians advantage into a Burnley weapon.However too many missed tackles and shocking kicking negated that advantage.Phil Thornton came on and showed some simple but effective work.Burnleys best spell followed they huffed and puffed and eventually drove over Charlie Gregory getting a touch before the visitors had the last word and score to deal Burnley a 43-10 defeat in their last home game.The game was very disappointing after a couple of better performances most recently against Della where their was an intensity ,physicality and spirit which was absent here..The people who opted to go away for the weekend made the right choice !
