In what has been a quite dreadful start to the season it is with great sadness that I have to report the death of long time Club member Adrian Jones who died on Friday 16th September at Harefield Hospital. In honour of Adrian and also John Coltrini and Peter Gardener, who left us during the summer there will be a minutes silence before the Club's home games on Saturday
Rod Mason has written the following about his friend.
It is with great regret that I have to report the passing of one of our Harrows band of loyal supporters. Adrian went into Harefield Hospital for the replacement of a heart valve. He had had a repair carried out to the same valve 10 years ago but this had started to fail. Unfortunately Adrian never recovered from his operation and on Friday after four weeks in Intensive Care he passed away.
Adrian played rugby (at hooker) as a student for Battersea College of Technology and then for his school old boys, Old Creightonians (now Uxbridge) RFC. He joined Harrow RFC in around 1975 but by then he was refereeing and was for some years a member of the London Society of Referees. He was a regular supporter of the club and even last season when his health was declining he was a fixture on the touchline and afterwards in the clubhouse.
His major interest was cricket. He was a qualified senior coach and for some years coached the Middlesex County Colt side. When his playing days eventually ended he qualified as an umpire and umpired in the Middlesex County League. For the last eight or nine years he was also the regular umpire for Mill Hill School 1st XI.
The funeral arrangements are as follows:
