Excellent Performance by the U11's

Once again glorious sunshine greeted us at Grove Fields as we met for the fourth session of the season. Another great turn out with 26 players pulling on the blue jersey. We introduced new payers Rio and Milo. A quick boot check then we went into a team huddle to go over the Harrow RFC values of Teamwork, respect, enjoyment, discipline and sportsmanship. The obligatory warm up was dispatched and it was into some time trials. Fastest sprinters were: Kade, Daniel, Tom and Archie.

It was then into drop out practise which were augmented from last week with some planned moves. This was followed by ruck drills and mauling. As the players went through the drills so did the parents. Manager Karen set them a challenge to erect our new tent in preparation for the Barnet festival next week. Working feverishly they had it up in no time, complete with beer cooler and jacuzzi! The coaches were impressed.

The clock struck eleven as we split into two teams bibs v blues. There were some fine displays of rugby on show, almost too many to mention here but Ikenna was driving well and putting in some good tackles. Anthony showed some strong short drives into the defence. Reuben was tackling well great technique. Daniel had several powerful runs. Kade showed his pace down the right wing and put in some great cover tackles, for someone in only his second week he certainly caught the coaches eye. It was a fantastic effort from everyone. The large numbers on a half pitch made the game a little crowded and we need to consider numbers at the maul. A small criticism amongst some great play.

Player of the day went to:

Dev - For superb effort throughout and fearless tackling.

Harry - For concentration and effort overall.

Milo - For good scrummaging and great tackling and mauling on his debut.

Emma - For good passing at scrum half and for a great try in the left corner. Her first ever try for Harrow RFC and no doubt the first of many, well done Emma.

Coaches special mention to Benj who took a hit and picked himself up with no drama.

Managers special mention to Ish and Claire who erected the tent in under half an hour.

Next week we are away at Barnet tournament.
