DISAPPOINTING WEEKEND FOR KIRKLEY AND PAKEFIELD

A disappointing weekend for Kirkley & Pakefield FC 1st team with their league match at bottom team Haverhill Rovers called off on Saturday morning with the home team unable to raise a team. Not a suitable decision at it seems they are likely to go unpunished and the match to be replayed later in the season. This Saturday the ‘Royals’ will be travelling to play Brantham Athletic with a 3.00 ko.
The ‘Reserves’ also had their disappointments playing at Wymondham Town in an extra early kick-off in the Quarter-Finals of the Anglian Combination League ‘Mummery Cup’ going out of the competition 2-1. The home team started well and took the lead on five minutes, shortly afterwards they were awarded a penalty which Liam Bruce in the ‘Royals’ goal saved well. Midway through the half the ‘Royals’ received a spot kick that Joshua Williams took with the keeper saving. The youthful ‘Royals’ suffered a double blow shortly afterwards with two of their players Jack Hutchinson ankle injury and Joshua Williams head injury having to leave the field and to be substituted. Just on half-time sub Leo Spooner pulled one back to level the score for the ‘Royals’. With a 1-1 half-time score in a half that keeper Bruce had made several key saves. The second half saw chances at both ends the ‘Royals’ best going to Thomas Harmer who hammered his shot onto the crossbar, soon afterwards on 85minutes keeper Bruce again saved well but the rebound was unfortunately headed home for Wymondham for what turned out to be the winner and a place in the semi-finals. This Saturday the ‘Royals’ are at Walmer Road with an early 1.30 ko against bottom team Stalham Town this in the league.
The K&PFC U23s home league match on the 3G Arena against Kessingland FC resulted in a 2-0 win for the U23s. On Saturday they play Waveney FC AFC at Dip Farm 1.30 ko.
In the Thurlow Nunn U18 Youth League table topping K&PFC AFC Royals had an excellent 2-0 win last Thursday at Walmer Road against second place Wroxham to increase their lead at the top. This week they are at home to Norwich United with the local club ‘derby’ against bottom of the table K&PFC U18s coming up next Thursday 15thDec. 7.45.
