Following season after season of ups and downs and player shortages, everything fell into place for the seconds to have their best ever season.

The first two results of the season seemed to hint at yet another season of failure, but they then followed that up with an eight match unbeaten run which put them on a par with the early league pacesetters.

With the experienced heads blending well with young legs and cameo appearances from players who have graced much higher divisions, the seconds took advantage of the turmoil in the firsts and maintained their momentum.

Despite some mid-season setbacks, nine wins out of the last twelve games put the newly confident seconds in with an outside chance of promotion - something that's never been heard of.

The dream was crushed by two end of season defeats but there were plenty of positives to take into the new season.
