6. Lochar Thistle 2012/2013

2012/2013

After being unbeaten in the previous 2 league campaigns Lochar entered this season with a major change in the boardroom and the playing squad. Chairman David Nish left the club along with Graham Ramsay and surprisingly long time servant Kevin McQueen. To assist in the managerial and coaching side the club were fortunate to appoint ex player Steven Gunn as No.2. Leaving the squad went first team regulars Neil, Howie, McCrone, Chambers, Talaszko,  Muir with injuries halting Brown, Cochrane, Ross Woodward and Quinn throughout the season. In came new faces Poreteous, Alston and Wilson from Uppers along with Shannon, and a return for McKnight. After getting off to a good start the season became a little inconsistent with performances, results and weather issues especially from October through until April. The 42 unbeaten run came with a double blow as the run came to an end with defeat to Dynamo Star while young Ross Woodward suffered a bad leg break. Defeat came in the QOS Cup at Palmerston with a 3-1 defeat from Dynamo Star and while the League campaign ended up 10 points adrift of Lochmaben the club did manage to retain the Tayleurian Cup with a penalty shoot out winning over the League champions Lochmaben.
