Parental /Carers/Supporters Code of Conduct

The Good Parents/Carers Code
In Rugby Union Coaches and administrators fully acknowledge that parents are an integral part of the partnership, which ensures that young players enjoy their involvement in the sport and experience an environment in which they can flourish.

IN RUGBY UNION PARENTS, CARERS AND SUPPORTERS SHOULD::

• Encourage your child to learn the rules and play within them
• Discourage unfair play and arguing with officials
• Help your child to recognise good performance, not just results; Never force your child to take part in sport
• Set a good example by recognising fair play and applauding the good performance of all
• Never punish or belittle a child for losing or making mistakes
• Publicly accept official's judgments and decisions
• Support your child's involvement and help them enjoy their sport
• Use correct and proper language at all times
• Provide adequate supervision for your child once the training session or match has finished. both inside and outside of the clubhouse
• DO NOT encourage or condone rule Violations, violent conduct, the use of prohibited substances or the consumption of alcohol
• DO NOT take photographs or make digital recordings during training sessions or matches without the express permission of bioth the Home and Away teams lead coach.
• DO NOT Enter the field of play. Discipline and order is the responsibility of the referee. You must not get involved; going on the pitch is a big NO NO.
• Be familiar with the coaching staff in order that they can ensure that their child is fully involved and the coaches are aware of their availability.
• Be aware that the RFUW has a duty of care and therefore, where appropriate, assist coaches and the young players, particularly where number are large and there is a need to transport youngsters to away games.
• Share concerns, if you have them, with the tournament/club officials only.
• Be familiar with the Good Coaches Code. In particular: Coaches should recognise the importance of fun and enjoyment when coaching young individuals; Coaches should keep winning and losing in perspective, encouraging young players to behave with dignity in all circumstances.

REMEMBER THAT PERSISTANT, NEGATIVE MESSAGES WILL ADVERSELY AFFECT THE PLAYERS AND REFEREES PERFORMANCE AND ATTITUDE AND YOU COULD BE ASKED TO LEAVE THE EVENT.

ALWAYS SUPPORT THE STAFF IN ERADICATING LOUD, COARSE AND ABUSIVE BEHAVIOUR FROM THE GAME.
