Oldfield are very sad to announce the passing of Keith Sheppard alias Sheps.

Keith died suddenly of a heart attack at his home in Litton near Chewton Mendip.

All our thoughts are with his family and friends at this sad and testing time.

Keith was a great friend of Roger Elliott and joined Oldfield as a result of his pestering in the late seventies. Keith joined us from Bambury RFC where he had been captain of the 1st XV.

He was a very lively and skillful scrum half and provided strong competition for Oldfields 1st XV residents Jock McCrae and Brian Burkey.

Sheps played for Oldfield into the early eighties having knocked up 40 plus appearances for the 1st XV.

He fitted extremely well into the Oldfield social ways and off the field activities. He became famous for the implementation of the infamous “Drinky Poo Club" whilst on tour to Torquay. This involved drinking copious amounts of Captain Morgan rum, a case of which he donated to the touring party.

He was a great guy a pleasure to play and socialise with, a true Oldfield guy. Please take some time out to remember the good times you had in his company.

Keith was an ardent Everton Fan and his family has requested attendees to wear something blue to his funeral.

His funeral will take place at Mendip Crematorium at 11.30 am on Friday 20th March, followed by drinks at The Ring O' Bells, Hinton Blewitt.
