It is with great sadness that we learned that Norman Barker sadly passed away on Monday this week at the age of 78.
Norman was a pillar of the Rugby Community in Northamptonshire as a Player, a Teacher, a Coach and a Mentor.
So many ON’s Players, past and present have worked with Norman over the last 60+ years and his death has left a massive hole in the lives of so many connected not only to the club but to the NSB and the wider community who all hold Norman in the very highest regard.
Norman was First Team Coach at the ON’s when they won the East Mids Cup at Franklins Gardens in 2007 but his “Honours List” runs a lot longer than that. He dedicated his life to the development of young people through Sport – having worked as a PE teacher at NSB and Sponne as well as devoting countless hours at evenings and weekends working as a Rugby Coach.
With the support of his two son’s Lewis and Charlie – there will be a moment of remembrance for Norman on Sunday 1st November at 11am during M&J training – fitting for a man that loved nothing more than to see Kids playing the game that he loved!
