We are sad to announce the death aged 64 on 22nd November of Tina Asbery, a long-time supporter and member of SRUFC. Our condolences to her son, Sam, boyfriend Ian and all family and friends. She died in hospital from lung cancer.
Tina first came regularly to the club some 20 years ago when her son, Sam Loxley was playing 2nd and 3rd team rugby. There was already a connection because she was the younger sister of Roger Keegan’s wife, Anne.
She became a great supporter of the first team and the club in general, always hugely enthusiastic and happy to help selling programmes, ferrying people about and even giving lodging to a prop ! She enjoyed going on the coach with the team and disliked summers as she couldn’t watch ‘ her boys ‘ regularly. Those boys presented her with some flowers after the first home game this season, aware that she was seriously ill, and she will be missed by all who knew her.
Tina's funeral service will be at 12:45 pm on Thursday, 16th December at Hutcliffe Wood Crematorium, with drinks at Abbeydale (Omega) afterwards
Rest in peace, Tina
