Finally, a competitive match to enjoy at Abbeydale all following the Stage D Ready4Rugby format and guidelines. A good number of spectators and parents assembled and the game set off at great pace with an early try opportunity by U14's, pulled back by eagled eyed Ref, James Gray, for a forward pass. All players demonstrated great understanding of the format, following recent weeks exceptional coaching and the social distantly managed crowd enjoyed some splendid passages of play and ball handling by both squads. U14's edged the first period and their one year age difference and 'lockdown' sizes gave them the advantage. After a sanitization interval and a few drinks U13's came out much stronger and determined, they ran in a few nice tries and showed some great skill. U14's bounced back with some quick tries from flying wingers and probably ran out winners but who's counting? The winners were all that participated and turned up to watch a thrilling encounter in lovely warm conditions. It was great to see all players laughing, smiling and buzzing afterwards. Lets do it again soon!
