Eagles Complete Kpekawa Signing

Eagles Complete Kpekawa Signing

James Smiles23 Jun - 18:00

Please welcome Cole Kpekawa to the Eyrie.

Bedford Town Football Club is delighted to announce the signing of Cole Kpekawa. The 29 year old central defender joins us from Oxford City.

Cole was born in Blackpool and made his Premier League debut for Queens Park Rangers in 2015, and has since gone on to play for Colchester United, Portsmouth and Leyton Orient. On leaving QPR, he signed for Barnsley, before returning permanently to Colchester. Spells in Slovakia and Scotland followed, before Cole returned to Non League, signing for National League South side Hemel Hempstead Town, and later was part of the Bromley side who gained promotion to the EFL.

Kpekawa now arrives at the Eyrie to bolster the defence, alongside Carl Mensah and Lewis Green who have already signed for the new season.

Speaking to the club's official website, Manager Lee Bircham commented "Over the moon to get the big man in.

Coley is a left footed centre back of good size and stature, with vital experience of the level both in the North and South. Also a bit of a leader and a terrific lad who will fit perfectly into the changing room we have.

He’s someone that I’ve know since he was a kid at QPR and I’ve followed his journey since then, which led to me sighing him for Hemel from Cheltenham, where he went on to have a great season deservedly taking him back into full time football with Maidenhead and then Bromley.

Myself and Cole always said about making sure we got to work together again as we had such a great working relationship previously. We tried to make it happen last season but couldn’t get it done, so as soon as there was a chance this season myself and JT jumped at it.

Bircham continued, "Coley did get some very decent offers elsewhere, which is a common theme and we’d have understood totally if he’d had taken them. For us it shows we are signing the right lads, but thankfully he has brought into what we are trying to do and now raring to go. Another top signing. Welcome aboard Cole."

We're just three weeks away from football returning, as we travel to St Neots Town on Saturday 12th July for the start of our pre-season campaign. Make the trip over the border to see Cole and the other Eagles in action. Failing that, we're back at the Eyrie on Tuesday 15th July, when we welcome Kings Langley to town.
