The Eagles welcome Essex-based side Ilford FC to the Eyrie for the home side’s fourth pre-season friendly. Last time out, Bedford beat step three side Hendon FC 0-1 away from home in a really telling win for the Eagles.
Bedford have shown some very promising signs in pre-season so far and are looking to expand upon this against Ilford. Lee Bircham’s side are currently unbeaten in pre-season and have only conceded one goal.
Last time at the Eyrie, the Eagles earnt a hard fought 1-1 draw with local rivals, Kettering Town. Despite going behind, Bedford scored a late equaliser through a trialist to secure a draw.
The Eagles then continued this good run with a convincing win over Hendon. A second half strike from a trialist after a fantastic pass from Ben Walster was enough to win Bedford the game.
Ilford recently played a friendly against recently relegated National League South side Concord Rangers and lost 0-5. Despite this, they represented themselves well and showed some fight.
They began pre-season with a comfortable 2-0 win over Park View FC back on July 1st. Things have changed since then, and a few friendlies have been played.
Ilford also kick off their league campaign next Saturday as they host Halstead Town in the Essex Senior League.
Ilford will give Bedford a game and it will be no walkover for the Eagles. Try to make your way to the Eyrie for this one! A reminder that this is a 1pm kick off so don’t turn up at 3pm like usual.
