The Eagles welcome Basford United to the Eyrie for a big midweek game for Graeme Tomlinson’s side. Bedford were beaten 2-0 by St Ives Town last time out as the losing streak continues.
Bedford received yet another red card on Saturday making it eleven for the season. Edward Gyamfi was given his marching orders against St Ives becoming the ninth player to be sent off this season.
The Eagles remain winless since Boxing Day and have endured a gruelling run of defeats since. It is now twelve defeats on the bounce for Bedford and nine games without a goal.
Perhaps the worst defeat of this run was the recent 4-0 pummelling away to local rivals AFC Rushden & Diamonds. There have been other bad losses recently, but that performance was the worst by a long way.
Basford have been having an underwhelming season as they sit near the relegation spaces. They look likely to survive now but there was a point recently where their step three status was in jeopardy.
They have recently picked up two big wins which include a 0-1 win away against Rushall Olympic and a 2-1 win over Ilkeston Town. These wins essentially confirmed their status in the league and fought off any relegation threat.
Last time against the Eagles, Basford won 3-1 at home in November. Luther Munakandafa opened the scoring for Basford before Afolabi Soyemi-Ololade equalised with an absolute screamer. Basford ran out 3-1 winners in the second half after Charley Sanders was sent off.
