The Eagles welcome Ware FC to the Eyrie for what is set up to be a cracking game of football between two top sides. Bedford most recently drew 0-0 with Bowers & Pitsea in the ISUZU FA Trophy before winning 3-5 on penalties.
A very important victory for Bedford on Saturday. News emerged this morning of the third qualifying round draw, and it sees the Eagles travel to Matlock Town for the next round.
This is the Eagles’ first league game in almost a month now as the last match resulted in a 2-1 victory over Biggleswade FC. Since then, the Emirates FA Cup and ISUZU FA Trophy has taken over with many matches in these competitions being played in September
.
Bedford were recently knocked out of the Emirates FA Cup after an unlucky defeat to Gorleston at the Eyrie. Goals from Jesse Akubuine and Adam Cunnington weren’t enough as the Eagles were beaten.
Ware have started the season quite well and sit eighth in the Southern League Division One Central. Most recently, they endured a 4-4 thriller with Thame United at Wodson Park.
Ware also faced Vanarama National League South side Chelmsford City in the Emirates FA Cup. They drew the first game but lost 2-1 away from home and were knocked out of the cup.
Eagles fans will have fond memories of facing Ware. The main one that comes to mind for Bedford fans will be that late comeback at Wodson Park with goals from Hugh Alban Jones and Rene Howe to win the game deep into injury time.
Try to make your way to the Eyrie for this one. All support much appreciated!
