Biography

Experienced striker Adam Cunnington joined the club on Monday 12th June 2023, becoming the 12th new signing under Lee Bircham. Cunnington was immediately brought in as the club's vice-captain following the signing of new club captain Alex Collard.

Adam is a local, Bedfordshire player, and started his career in 2005-06 with Barton Rovers and Leighton Town. In the following seasons, he played for Hitchin Town, Aylesbury United, Rothwell Town, Stamford and Barwell. It was at Barwell where he made a real name for himself in 2009/10. Alongside Kevin Charley, the pair scored over 50 goals in the club's successful title winning season and journey to the FA Vase Semi- Final

This success caught the eye of Conference North side Solihull Moors, and Cunnington moved to them in the summer of 2010. 10 goals in the opening 22 appearances drew the attention of Kettering Town, and he moved to the Conference National side for an undisclosed fee.

Adam's success at the Poppies meant a further step up and into the football league. He joined league two club Dagenham & Redbridge on loan with a view to a permanent transfer in December 2011.

For the 2012–13 season, Cunnington signed for Conference outfit Tamworth. He enjoyed a successful season, ending up as the Conference second top-scorer with 21 goals. Cunnington signed for Conference rivals Cambridge United on a two-year contract on 10 May 2013, and was part of the team that won promotion to League Two via the play-offs.
After spells at Bristol Rovers, Ebbsfleet United, and a short loan at Woking, Cunnington signed for Bromley.

After leaving Bromley, Cunnington has gone on to represent Billericay Town, Dartford, Hemel Hempstead, Romford and Hornchurch. He signed for Cheshunt after the COVID lockdown, and spent last season with Enfield Town.

As outlined above, Adam arrives at the Eyrie with a wealth of experience across the game at many levels. Cunnington will also be the club's vice captain, alongside new captain Alex Collard. He is now ready for the next challenge of securing the Eagles the highest possible finish this coming season.

Speaking to www.bedfordeagles.net jointly, director Jon Taylor and Manager Lee Bircham commented "Adam is a great signing for the club. He comes with an excellent pedigree, playing not only in the football league but for some great clubs in the National League. He will provide us with the strength we need as our target man and utilised generally as our focal point that we need up top."

The pair continued "His experience, aerial ability and general athleticism will bode well for the players we have around him. When Adam became available, we knew this would be a no brainer for us especially what we need in terms of this season. He will lead the line from the front and he will be a nightmare for the opposition defences to deal with. It's been a pleasure to meet him, have him on board and we wish him all the best in an Eagles shirt."

Adam is kindly sponsored by Taylor Made New Homes for the 2023/24 season.
