Kyle Connolly signed terms with the club on Thursday 8th June 2023. Connolly became the ninth player to commit for the 2023/24 season under Lee Bircham.Kyle started his career at Watford and Arsenal in the youth development. After his release, he joined Hemel Hempstead Town, where he was a part of the Tudor's successful promotion to the Conference South in 2014. He featured in both games against the Eagles that season. He went on to make over 150 appearances for the Hertfordshire side, over the following five seasons at National League South.
After leaving Hemel, Connolly signed for Kings Langley and spent three good years there making 58 appearances around the curtailed COVID season dates. Success continued for him at left back, where he teamed up with new Eagles boss Lee Bircham in the summer of 2022 at Bell Close. Connolly went on to make 48 appearances at Leighton Town, scoring 8 goals in their double winning season.
Speaking to www.bedfordeagles.net, director Jon Taylor and Manager Lee Bircham commented, "To be signing a player of Kyle's quality is a massive statement of our intentions and ambition moving forward. With the type of player we are attracting to the club, Kyle will undoubtedly be one of the fittest players on the pitch. His technique and crossing ability offensively will provide a good balance to the team."
The pair continued, "He is renowned for his pinpoint dead ball deliveries in the oppositions box, which will cause all sorts of problems from attacking set pieces. He has a real ability and tenacity going forward, and the pace to recover when doing his defensive duties. We will be able to rely on him when under pressure and he is a fantastic addition to our new looking Eagles squad."
