Difficult Draw for Warriors and Ferryside

The 1st match between the two sides ended in a 12 all draw, though the Warriors felt they were denied a late winner.

Despite the notoriously heavy Ferryside pitch, the teams put on a good display of rugby and couldn't be separated at full time.

Although conditions weren't really conducive to running rugby, both sides looked to play the game at pace. Ferryside started strongly and camped on the Warriors line. They battered away but couldn't quite find the score thanks to strong Warriors defence with Lee Rowlands and Darren Pollitt doing well. The Warriors found it difficult to escape from their own 22 though and in the end, like the estuary tide they washed over the line, Jordan Jones grabbing the score which was converted.

The kick off helped the Warriors gain territory and some good handling set Gareth Ladd free on a run to the line and Simon Jenkins slotted the conversion. Despite lots of endeavour, there were no final scores to the half.

The 2nd period was a mirror image of the first. The Warriors dominating possession and eventually getting the score but Ferryside also scoring when they finally escaped and Richard Evans stretching over from some desperate tackles. The 2nd half was a frantic affair that seemed to pass in a flash and right at the death the Warriors looked to have scored the decisive try when centre Ben Winstanley went over but the referee felt there had been a knock on.

In the end either side could have won and a draw seemed a fair result from an enthralling contest that bodes well for future meetings.
