Influential midfielder Ben Spaul signed an agreement to play for the Eagles on Saturday 10th June 2023.
The 31 year old started his career at Cockfosters, before moving on to Welwyn Garden City in 2017. He then played under Bedford manager Lee Bircham at Berkhamsted making 31 appearances across to the two interrupted COVID seasons where the Comrades finished top of the Southern League Division One when it was curtailed.
Spaul moved back to Welwyn Garden City in the summer of 2021, and was part of the Citizens side that achieved the playoffs only to fail ground grading and not be able to take part in the end of season deciders. Last summer, he once again linked up with Bircham, signing at Bell Close for Leighton Town. He went on to make 48 appearances in their successful double winning season.
Speaking jointly to www.bedfordeagles.net, Director Jon Taylor and Manager Lee Bircham stated, "Ben has a load of experience at step four and has regularly been involved with the playoffs, picking up league winners and cup final medals. His experience will most certainly be the driving force for the Eagles doing well in the next campaign."
Ben Spaul is kindly sponsored by Dave Swallow for the 2023/24 season.
