Dennis was a junior footballer at Hall Green United, who grew up in the village. A likeable character and a promising footballer, Dennis thrived in the big matches. A Stalwart defender, who could operate in midfield, the youngster was a prodigy of the juniors who was expected to make the step up to the seniors.
But after a fateful night out in 1996, Dennis was run over on Stoney Lane and at just 17, was lost from us.
In memory of Dennis, a trophy, which is used at Junior Presentation Evenings is awarded to players.
