BURNLEY Seconds enjoyed an excellent win over local rivals Rossendale to maintain their unbeaten start to the season and remain top of their league.

Burnley dominated the opening period but poor final passing and some stout defence kept them at bay.
In Dales first incursion into Bumley territory they drove over from a lineout.

The locals seemed to be feeling the pressure and lost a player to the sin bin. Dale took full advantage and with the extra space scored a well worked try as the full back came into the missing players space to score under the posts . They converted the kick to go 12-0 up.

Bumley responded well and skipper Gus Ferguson (pictured right) went over for a try after great work by the forwards.

Adam Lee, Danny Marshall and John Fenney were everywhere and Josh Brown was winning good quality lineout ball. Bumley scored again soon after as Tom Ives finished a great move to go under the posts after a good Gav Brien break.

Ferguson added the conversion and the scores were tied 12-12 at half-time.
Dale started the better in the second half but struggled to break down a determined and well-organized Bumley defence.

As the visitors tired Burnley got on top winning a succession of penalties.
The locals' frustrations grew though as the referee wouldn't allow them to be taken quickly allowing the visitors to organise their defence.

Burnley should have added to their score but could only manage a Ferguson penalty.

Further pressure after some great forward drives allowed Ferguson to drop a goal and gain a full house of scores, leaving the final score 18-12 in favour of Bumley.
